Free house

**Free House** is the term used by Radicle Civics for the concept of aapplying self-ownership to proprperty. The idea extendis this as far as I can tell to include th classic architectural concerns regarding sustainability of materials.

We like the re:purposing of this term. We imagine it's use for community spaces such as pubs, and look to use it for Astral Ship and the Perma Village.

> Paradigm shift – what if a house and their component parts could own themselves?

**Free House** would be connected to open and dynamic registries of ongoing performance and product data, containing information constituent materials, processes, verified embodied impacts, and live performance.

Materials are typically determined up-front cost or convenience, rather than the long-term performance of the home, or its impact on our health and wellbeing.

Material registry – air quality, humidity, temperature, energy use intensity, noise, and further information about a building component’s whole life impact and performance are logged in a verifiable registry, allowing us to understand and contract for the combined effects of the house design.

This allows for new models of analysis and interaction within the home; from understanding day-to-day fluctuations, to the longer micro-impacts on our health and wellbeing.

> Financing a house – what if a house could pay for themselves?

The house issues bonds through a civic trust in order to generate funding to build themselves. The civic trust may comprise co-beneficiaries or service providers of the house, which could include future residents, public interest developers, energy suppliers, and other civic organisations.
