This is a primitive. Much of what is discussed, and what we aim at building is to be understood as the creation of an ecosystem of digital institutions.
This is a formal understanding of the concept using matrix concepts. Formally we are talking about creating new forms of institutions, that is comapnies and organisations that most commonly have a legal form - that are fundamentally but subtly different in that they are digital.
# Institutions
As structures or mechanisms of social order, they govern the behaviour of a set of individuals within a given community. Institutions are: > stable, valued, recurring patterns of behavior.
Our focus, however is on the formal structural elements of modern institutions - particularly those that are encoded into law, governance or project management structures that the Matrix encodes as text.
# Perfomative Governance
Digital institutions are not simply legal entities whose processes are automated and documentation is digitised - they are more than digital. They are performative.
