Why do we choose to use the word **Artificial** in this context? In what sense are the ideas, people and content of our deliberations fake? And what gives us the pretension that the output of this process is intelligent?
# Definition
> Artificiality (the state of being artificial or anthropogenic) is the state of being the product of intentional human manufacture, rather than occurring naturally through processes not involving or requiring human activity
# Programme
The Astral Cinema will curate a series of films that depict various forms of artificial intelligence, robots and the analogue AI's we know as corporations.
We will also run a news show called "Fake News". The content, visuals and especially voices of many of the characters portrayed will use voice cloning. Nothing is Real.
# Almost
We will restage the art installation Almost (from 1999) - and run a series of workshops where we explore creating images, animations, 3D and audio using Generative AI techniques. These workshops will combine art, film-making and artificial intelligence to create content for the cinema.
# Hitchikers Guides In the Astral Cinema we will work with characters from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. Marvin, the Babel Fish and the Improbability Drive all feature in the School for Aliens that we devise our Guides for. Wiki here is our friend.
